PRASANTHI GARDENS

A Model Crematorium at Ulliyeri, Kozhikode An initiative by Ulliyeri Grama Panchayat Nestled near the tranquil Palora Hills and spread across 2.6 acres, Prasanthi Gardens is a model crematorium that offers a serene, dignified space for farewell and remembrance. Conceived as more than just a functional facility, it is a sensitive response to the emotional and spiritual dimensions of grief. The natural terrain shapes the journey of mourners—an immersive, reflective passage that accompanies the departed soul with grace. The built spaces blend into the landscape, mirroring the inner mindscape of those in mourning. Through elements like filtered light, subtle material textures, and calm spatial volumes, the architecture gently supports introspection and emotional quietude. The crematorium includes two gas-operated chambers and thoughtfully designed areas for rituals, bathing, and ash immersion preparations. Ritual courts are placed with care to invoke a meditative atmosphere, offering space for final rites with reverence. A key feature of Prasanthi Gardens is the ‘Smriti Vann’—a wooded grove interwoven with green alleys, shaded paths, and pause points that allow mourners moments of stillness along the spiritual final journey.
